KlimaGuard: Performance & Affordability Now Comes in More Sizes
As part of our ongoing drive towards higher-efficiency homes, Small Planet Supply is committed to bringing high-performance building materials to all parts of the market. In 2019, we introduced our KlimaGuard line of building tape as a budget friendly option for high-performance envelope air sealing. Ever since its release, KlimaGuard has been a hit with our customers, and we are excited to announce some improvements and new sizes to further support your building and air sealing needs!
Early last year we put out the first run of KlimaGuard tapes in 2”, 3”, and 4” sizes. These were great options for sheathing membrane (2”), window (3”), and base/corner (4”) tape solutions. In fact, our 2” size was so popular that we ran out of stock 4 months into the first run! The German made tapes are PET fleece-based, air and watertight, and considered a “smart” tape, as its vapor permeability adjusts depending on its moisture content. You can even apply paint, stucco, or plaster over the tape, if that is your final goal.
Now, have you ever wanted all those features, but BIGGER? We’re introducing two new sizes to meet your needs! KlimaGuard now comes in 6” and 9” sizes. These are perfect for weather sealing wide bases and rough openings, in a parapet, or extra deep windows. Anywhere you need or want to really overdo the waterproofing, KlimaGuard now has a size for that.
Regardless of size, the most important feature of any building tape must be the adhesive. KlimaGuard’s adhesive is already formulated to adhere excellently to the most common building materials: wood, concrete, weather resistant membranes, metals, rigid foam boards, and drywall. With the manufacturer’s recent move to a new facility, we took the opportunity to further improve the formula and achieve even better adhesion results. The pressure activated acrylate adhesive used is tested to be driving rain tight to 1,050 pascals, has a moisture variable permeance of .28 – 6.88 perms, and has a very high aging resistance. Furthermore, it can be applied in a wide range of temperatures (14f – 104f) and remains UV stable for up to 6 months, allowing you ample time through the seasons to finish up your building project.
Unfortunately, we are still only offering this product in the USA. Visit our webstore to order KlimaGuard today, as this product line sells quickly! While you’re there you can check out all our other great building products.
